With this setup, FOS will generate the documents for the trip and submit them to the iPad devices as well as save a copy inside the trip in FOS. You will also see that with any changes that are made after the initial automated report has been submitted, they will be updated and inside the trip and the previous versions will be marked inactive.
*** IMPORTANT NOTES that could prevent this from working properly ***
1) Be cautious about selecting reports to auto-run that require a user to respond to prompts. This may hang up the process/interface since those prompts are not getting answered and the report won't generate without. However, some reports with prompts will generate properly and ideally, the automation selects the defaulted option for each prompt.
2) Be mindful of the reports that are selected to auto-run. For example, if it is a passenger report that will not generate without passengers listed, this could also hang up the process/interface. Another example might be trips with no itinerary, and trying to run reports that require legs.
3) Make sure there are no hidden reports with a DOC TYPE selected in the background unless you are aware of them and they are set up and running properly.
4) Information on the right side of the report setup is user-specific, so make sure that this is set up as desired within the interface manager user.
5) Best practice would be to make sure all the reports work properly without manual input (or defaults selected) before selecting them to auto-run, and on various trip types (i.e. trips with no itinerary). This includes not setting up reports that have parameter questions.
6) If your operation has a large number of trips scheduled per day, and users are actively accessing and saving those trips throughout the day and within the period set in the company data, this could significantly impact the performance of the interface manager trying to cycle through all those automated trip reports. It is recommended that you only set up a minimum number of documents/reports to run and reduce the time before a trip to as close as possible to departure.
