To upload report files into FOS, please see the following steps. Please note these are written with corresponding locations for Portside Hosted Customers only.
1. Select Utilities-->Upload Documents from the FOS main menu.
2. Two Windows Explorer boxes will appear (caution, they may be overlapping each other, and you won't see the second one unless you slide the top-level box over a bit). In one of these windows, point to the D:\FOS\data folder (you may need to manually type the location into the location bar).
3. On the other window, point to your real desktop or drive where the report file is currently saved to. This is a little tricky in the virtual environment, but see below!
- Find local disk C (should have your computer name/number by it). Then select Users.
- Find your name/computer number.
- Select Desktop or whichever location the report is saved. This is your computer's actual desktop, downloads, shared drives.
4. Find the report file in the location on your computer that you wish to place into FOS. You can either drag and drop from the computer location to D:\FOS\data or highlight, right click, and select copy. Then, right click and select paste into D:\FOS\data.
5. If your file was named the exact same as a file already in the data folder, you can choose to override and your report file update is complete. You can close both file explorer windows.
6. If your file is unique, and not going to override an existing file, you can close both file explorer windows and move onto setting up the report setup window. Information on Report Setup can be found in this guide.
If you have an error message, regarding permission to reach the folder, it may be one of a few things.
1. You are not mapping to the correct location. If this happens you need to re-review the above screen shots to be sure you are accessing the correct folder path, and not using a default location but instead actually mapping to the local C on your desktop or the actual U drive.
2. You may need to allow permission to red, write, and modify - that is outlined
in this guide.
3. You may be launching FOS in the actual web browser window instead of the stand-alone app. To remedy this, you will need to log out and change your default method of launching - that is outlined
in this guide.
